A recent study comparing all fifty U.S. States and the District of Columbia on a number of factors, including elder abuse, gross neglect of seniors, and exploitation complaints, found that South Carolina is dead last when it comes to preventing abuse of our senior citizens. This is an extremely sad state of affairs. I have been proud to have done my own small part in drawing attention to this issue over the years.
